Frequently asked questions.

How expensive is it to have a piece custom made?

Determining the exact cost of a custom-made piece can be challenging as it hinges on several factors, including the choice of materials, finishes, and hardware. Additionally, the size of the piece significantly influences the price. A precise estimate can only be provided once a finalized drawing has been established.

What types of wood do you use?

Regarding wood selection, the majority of my work utilizes paint-grade maple plywood and solid poplar moldings. In certain instances, we employ mahogany plywood with solid edging. However, we are adaptable to working with various wood types based on your preferences.

What design choices do I have?

When it comes to design choices, the possibilities are virtually limitless. I possess extensive experience collaborating with clients' own designers or architects, ensuring that their envisioned concepts come to life.

Are the knobs and/or pulls included?

While the knobs or pulls are not included, we do provide the service of drilling and installing them. This approach allows for greater flexibility in terms of styles, quality, and pricing, as these aspects can vary significantly.

How long will it take to have a unit made?

The timeframe for crafting a custom unit depends on our workload at the time of consultation. Typically, I can deliver a drawing and estimate within one week. Once the project commences, you can anticipate a timeframe of approximately four weeks for completion, depending on the size. For larger-scale projects, the timeline may extend to 6-8 weeks before delivery.

How to commission work

Experience a seamless journey from envisioning your woodwork project to its realization within your home through a carefully crafted five-step process.

Step 1:

Following our initial contact, we arrange a meeting at your residence to meticulously assess the project's layout. During this consultation, we create a concept sketch that seamlessly integrates with the character of your house while taking precise measurements.

Step 2:

Within a few days, you will receive a scale drawing via email, allowing you to review and suggest any desired changes before the commencement of work.

Step 3:

Once the design reaches its final iteration, a deposit is all that is required to initiate the work process.

Step 4:

We meticulously schedule a delivery and installation date. The installation of a large unit typically spans 2 to 3 days. The remaining balance for the project is due upon the last day of installation.

Step 5:

To add the finishing touch to your project, we collaborate with highly skilled finishers whom we have recommended and relied upon for many years. It is important to note that the cost of the finishing service is separate from the original estimate and will be provided as an additional cost.

Please be assured that our aim is to bring your vision to life with meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to excellence.
